I remember a time before your awareness when we had no idea what it meant to be Transgender. At the time we had two distinct categories. “Cross-dressers” and “Transsexuals.” Neither were very flattering labels, but they did recognize a difference between the two.

When people in the early stages of awareness of feeling “Trans” have approached me, I feel lots of concern for them. I know too well the journey of broken lives you read about. No one “chooses” the Transgender journey and it’s certainly not one to be taken without some deep introspection and counseling. Just consider that there may be more than one way to express a feminine side rather than going through a full transition.
