I’ve been confronted with this circumstance a number of times since my transition. My knee jerk reaction is to say something, but usually I don’t. I’m with you in that to recognize someone and clock them is a hurtful act that may cause them to question how well they pass etc. Unfortunately, I think as trans women, we live in a somewhat fragile state of self esteem and we should be considerate of harming another’s feelings by recognizing them. There are venues and gatherings that we can attend to ‘connect’, but perhaps a random location like a grocery store or mall isn’t the right time and place.
