Great read, but of course bittersweet. I’m also a father and a trans woman. My son used to send me flowers on Mother’s Day, but I finally asked him to stop and save my celebration for June in what we now call, ‘Parents Day.’ Unlike you, we celebrated every holiday of any stripe. I’m of the opinion that life needs more celebrations, not less. I celebrate the mother of my children on Mother’s Day for the gift she gave me in carrying and delivering the two most precious beings in my world. Now as a grandma there’s even more reason! I would love to have been the one to bring my children into the world, but since I couldn’t, I will celebrate those who have! Happy Mother’s Day!!
