All part of the journey. I know women who had it and women who didn’t. I had it, and it was a game changer. I never get misgendered on the phone. In fact, the surgery is not really an adjustment of your entire range upward, but more of a limitation of the lower scale of your voice. Keep in mind that it takes quite a while to heal from also. I could hardly speak above a whisper for about 6 weeks and then another 6 months to feel like my voice had settled. During that time I found it extremely taxing to speak loudly and would lose my voice the day after being out in a noisy club. Every part of transition comes with it’s unique challenges and it’s important to consider each stage carefully. Have fun on your big night out!
